Waxing Aftercare
The wax is the easy part — staying smooth is what comes after. Here's how to keep your skin calm for the first two days and ingrown-free until your next visit.
The First 48 Hours
-
For 24 hours: no pools, jacuzzis, saunas, hot baths, or the ocean, and no sweaty workouts. Freshly waxed follicles are open, and heat and bacteria are how bumps happen. A cool, quick shower is fine.
-
Waxed skin burns faster than you think. Keep it covered or shaded for 48 hours, then SPF 30+ any time the sun will see it.
-
Friction is the enemy of freshly waxed skin. Soft, breathable, loose layers for the first day — save the fitted jeans for day two.
-
No exfoliating scrubs, loofahs, or brushes, no self-tanner, and no retinol or strong acids on waxed skin for 48 hours. Let it settle before anything works that hard.
Your Between-Wax Routine
-
Hydrated skin keeps regrowing hair soft enough to break through the surface instead of curling under. A fragrance-free moisturizer once a day is the single easiest way to prevent ingrown hairs.
-
Once your skin has settled, gently exfoliate two to three times a week. It keeps pores clear so new hairs release easily — smoother regrowth and an easier next wax.
-
Shaving between appointments resets everything waxing has done for you — regrowth comes back blunt, itchy, and ingrown-prone. If stray hairs bother you mid-cycle, leave them for your next visit; they'll be gone in minutes.
-
If we've waxed your face, wait about seven days before a peel, dermaplaning, or resurfacing treatment on that same skin. Body waxing doesn't affect your facial schedule at all.
Stay on a 4–6 week schedule and every wax gets easier — regrowth comes back finer, softer, and sparser each time.
