Dermaplaning in San Diego
Dermaplaning is the fastest route to smooth, luminous skin — no acid, no downtime, no recovery. A sterile surgical-grade blade is drawn across the skin at a precise angle, lifting away built-up dead cells and the fine vellus hair most people call peach fuzz. What's left behind is skin that feels like glass, reflects light evenly, and takes makeup like it was airbrushed.
Most places sell dermaplaning as a ten-minute shave tacked onto whatever you already booked. The Dermaplane Glow Facial is a full 70-minute treatment built around it. In our private Hillcrest studio your skin is prepped with an oxygen cleanse, dermaplaned with premium organic oils for slip and glide, then layered with a firming and plumping treatment, a mask chosen for your skin type, and MD-grade red light therapy. The blade is where it starts, not where it ends.
This is one of the few treatments where the result is immediate and visible — you leave brighter than you arrived, with nothing to hide and nothing to recover from. It's what people book before a wedding, a shoot, a reunion, or any week they want their skin to do the talking.
What Makes Our Dermaplane Facial Different
Sequenced So Your Actives Sink In
The blade comes before the treatment layer for a reason. With the dead-cell barrier lifted away, serums, firming actives and mask ingredients reach living skin instead of sitting on top of it. Same ingredients, visibly more result.
Oils, Not a Dry Scrape
Most studios dermaplane dry skin, which drags and leaves it tight and pink. We work over premium organic oils so the blade glides. It's gentler on your barrier, and it's why clients describe this as relaxing rather than clinical.
Makeup-Ready the Same Day
No flaking, no peeling window, no hiding out. You can wear makeup within hours of leaving, and it will sit better than it did before you came in. This is the treatment you book the week of an event, not the month before.
We'll Tell You If It's Not Right for You
Active, inflamed or pustular breakouts and fresh sunburn are not candidates for a blade. If that's where your skin is today, we'll say so and move you to a treatment that will actually help. Nobody here gets talked into something their skin can't use.
Or Add It to Any Facial
Already have a favorite treatment? Dermaplaning can be added to any facial on our menu for $50. The Dermaplane Glow Facial is for when you want the blade to be the centerpiece — a full 70 minutes built and customized around it.
What Happens During Your Dermaplane Facial
01 — Consultation & Skin Analysis
We look closely at your skin and talk through what you want from it — smoothness, brightness, makeup that behaves, an event on the calendar. Everything that follows is chosen from there.
02 — Oxygen Cleanse
A layered cleanse that does far more than clean. Enzymes loosen dead cells, brightening actives go to work on dullness, and hydration goes back in before anything else touches your skin.
03 — The Dermaplane
Premium organic oils go on first for slip and glide, then a sterile blade is drawn across the skin in short, controlled passes. Dead cells and vellus hair lift away. Most people say it feels like nothing at all.
04 — Firming & Plumping Treatment
With the dead-cell barrier gone, a firming and plumping layer goes onto freshly revealed skin — the single best moment your products will ever have to absorb.
05 — Custom Mask
Chosen for your skin type and where it is that day: calming, hydrating, brightening or clarifying. It sits while you do absolutely nothing.
06 — MD Red Light Therapy
Medical-grade red light closes the treatment, calming any warmth from the blade and stimulating collagen in the skin you just uncovered.
Why Choose Conjure
We see one client at a time. No shared rooms, no overlapping appointments, nobody waiting in a lobby while your mask sets. The studio is a restored Craftsman house in Hillcrest with free private parking, and we're open until 9:30pm every day of the week — including Sunday — because the people who care most about their skin usually have the least free time.
Eleven years in, our reputation rests on two things: organic skincare backed by real clinical technology, and never selling anyone a treatment they don't need. That means Éminence Organics on your skin, medical-grade light therapy on the table, and a skin therapist who will tell you honestly whether dermaplaning is the right call for you today.
Clients come to us for dermaplaning from Clairemont, Kearny Mesa and Chula Vista. Book online any time, or text 866.956.1605 if you'd rather talk it through first.
Dermaplaning FAQ
-
The full Dermaplane Glow Facial is $169 for 70 minutes. If you'd rather add dermaplaning to a facial you already love, it's $50. Around San Diego, dermaplaning alone typically runs $100 to $185 — and that's usually just the blade, with no oxygen cleanse, firming treatment, mask or red light therapy attached to it.
-
No. This is the most persistent myth in skincare and it isn't true. Cutting hair at the surface does nothing to the follicle beneath it, so your vellus hair returns at exactly the same rate, thickness and color it had before. What can happen is that a freshly cut blunt tip feels slightly different under your fingertips for a day or two. That's texture, not growth.
-
No. A razor is designed to cut hair and skim past skin. A dermaplaning blade is held at a specific shallow angle and drawn in short controlled passes to lift away the built-up layer of dead cells along with the hair. The hair removal is the side effect. The exfoliation is the point — and it's the reason your skin looks lit from within afterward, which shaving has never done for anyone.
-
The smoothness holds for about three to four weeks, which is roughly one full skin cell turnover cycle. The brightest, most reflective glow is at its peak in the first seven to ten days. Most clients settle into a rhythm of every four weeks, which keeps the skin consistently smooth rather than cycling between dull and renewed.
-
Yes — it's one of the very few resurfacing treatments that is. There are no acids, no retinoids and no absorbed actives required to do it, and we adjust the mask and finishing products to pregnancy-safe options. Just tell us when you book so we can plan the whole treatment around it.
-
Anyone with active inflamed acne, pustules or cystic breakouts should wait — a blade over infected skin spreads bacteria and irritates what's already angry. The same goes for fresh sunburn, an active cold sore, or any open or broken skin. If you've taken Accutane in the last six months, we'll hold off. If breakouts are the issue you're trying to solve, our acne facial treatments are the right room to start in, and we'll say so rather than take your money.
-
Regularly. Men who shave clean get the full treatment and tend to be genuinely surprised by how much dead skin was sitting under their razor. If you wear a beard, we dermaplane everything outside the beard line — forehead, upper cheeks, nose and the bridge — and treat the beard itself with a probiotic cleanse instead. Conjure has been voted San Diego's number one men's facial studio for eight years running, so nobody here needs it explained.
-
Then don't book it. Book the "I Have No Idea!" Facial instead — it exists exactly for this. You come in, we look at your skin properly under magnification, and we build the treatment from what we actually find. If dermaplaning turns out to be what your skin needs, that's where it will land anyway.
