Dermaplaning is the fastest route to smooth, luminous skin. A sterile surgical blade is drawn across the skin at a precise angle, lifting away built-up dead cells and the fine vellus hair most people call peach fuzz. What’s left is skin that feels like glass, reflects light evenly and takes makeup like it was airbrushed.
Most places sell dermaplaning as a quick shave tacked onto whatever you already booked. Our Dermaplane Glow Facial is a full 70-minute treatment built around it, performed by licensed skin therapists in our private Hillcrest studio and fully customized to your skin: an oxygen cleanse, dermaplaning over premium organic oils, a firming and plumping treatment, a mask chosen for your skin type and red light therapy. The blade is where it starts, not where it ends.

Your skin therapist looks closely at your skin and talks through what you want from it: smoothness, brightness, makeup that behaves, an event on the calendar. Everything that follows is chosen from there.
Oxygen cleanse
A layered cleanse with enzymes to loosen dead cells, brightening actives for dullness and hydration before anything else touches your skin.
The dermaplane
Premium organic oils go on first for slip and glide, then a sterile surgical blade is drawn across the skin in short, controlled passes. Dead cells and vellus hair lift away. Most people say it feels like nothing at all.
Firming & plumping treatment
With the dead-cell layer gone, a firming and plumping treatment goes onto freshly revealed skin, right when it absorbs best.
Custom mask

Red light therapy

How much does dermaplaning cost in San Diego?
The full Dermaplane Glow Facial is $169 for 70 minutes, fully customized to your skin. If you'd rather add dermaplaning to a facial you already love, it's $50. Around San Diego, dermaplaning on its own typically runs about $50 to $135, and that's usually just the blade, with no oxygen cleanse, firming treatment, mask or red light therapy attached to it.
Will my hair grow back thicker or darker?
No. This is the most persistent myth in skincare. Cutting hair at the surface does nothing to the follicle beneath it, so your vellus hair returns at the same rate, thickness and color it had before. A freshly cut blunt tip can feel slightly different under your fingertips for a day or two. That's texture, not growth.
Isn't dermaplaning just shaving?
No. A razor is designed to cut hair and skim past skin. A dermaplaning blade is held at a specific shallow angle and drawn in short, controlled passes to lift away the built-up layer of dead cells along with the hair. Losing the peach fuzz is the side effect; the exfoliation is the point, and it's why your skin looks lit from within afterward, something shaving never does.
How long do the results last?
The smoothness holds for about three to four weeks, roughly one full skin cell turnover cycle. The glow shows right away and lasts as long as the smoothness. We recommend dermaplaning every 4–5 weeks or as needed to keep skin consistently smooth.
Dermaplaning vs. microdermabrasion: which is better?
Both exfoliate. Dermaplaning uses a blade to lift dead cells and peach fuzz, so it's the pick for a smooth makeup base and for anyone who wants the fuzz gone. Microdermabrasion polishes the surface without removing hair and suits congested skin or uneven texture. Your skin therapist can tell you which fits your skin, and dermaplaning can be added to our Microdermabrasion Facial for $50.
Is dermaplaning safe during pregnancy?
Yes, it's one of the very few resurfacing treatments that is. No acids, retinoids or absorbed actives are needed for the blade, and we adjust the mask and finishing products to pregnancy-safe options. Just tell us when you book so we can plan the whole treatment around it.
Who shouldn't get dermaplaning?
Anyone with active, inflamed acne or pustules should skip the blade for now, because it irritates breakouts that are already angry. The same goes for fresh sunburn, an active cold sore, or open or broken skin, and we'll hold off if you've taken Accutane in the last six months. Breakouts are still treated here: our Advanced Acne Facial treats every type of acne, from mild breakouts to cystic acne.
Can I get facial waxing at the same appointment?
Plan facial waxing or threading one to two weeks before your dermaplaning rather than at the same visit, and skip scrubs, exfoliating acids and retinol for three to five days beforehand. That keeps your skin calm so the blade can do its best work.
Do men get dermaplaning?
Regularly. Men who shave clean get the full treatment and are often surprised by how much dead skin was sitting under their razor. If you wear a beard, we dermaplane everything outside the beard line (forehead, upper cheeks, nose and bridge) and treat the beard itself with a probiotic cleanse instead.
Is dermaplaning legal in California?
Yes. The California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology confirmed in 2022 that dermaplaning is within the scope of practice for licensed skin therapists, as long as only the outer layer of dead skin is removed. Ours is performed with a sterile, single-use blade.
I'm not sure this is the right treatment for me.
