Golden, glowing skin after a glycolic and lactic acid peel in San Diego

The glycolic peel

Fresh, Smooth Skin Without Hiding Indoors

San Diego is generous with sunshine and hard on skin. Sun, salt air and daily SPF leave it dull, rough, congested and prone to breakouts, and most peels ask you to disappear for a week to fix it. This one does not.

Our glycolic peel layers clinical-strength glycolic and lactic acid one pass at a time, fully customized by licensed skin therapists (also called estheticians) to the depth you choose. One or two layers is the true lunchtime peel: instant glow, no visible peeling. Three or four layers resurface deeper, with only a day or two of light flaking. Fighting clogged pores and breakouts? It doubles as an acne peel, with targeted boosters added as needed at no extra cost.

Need dark-spot correction? See the Bright Skin Peel. Treating acne scars or deeper sun damage? The TCA Chemical Peel goes further.

What makes it different

Why This Light Chemical Peel Works

Six reasons it has become our everyday peel.

  • You Choose the Downtime

One or two layers for a lunchtime glow with no visible peeling, or three to four for deeper resurfacing with a day or two of light flaking.

  • Layered Live, Not Pre-Mixed

One to four passes of lactic and glycolic acid, each one assessed before the next, so the depth matches your skin that day.

  • Two Acids, Two Jobs

Glycolic acid (15–30%) resurfaces and smooths; lactic acid (15–30%) brightens while staying gentle and hydrating.

  • Built for Sun-Exposed Skin

Targets the dullness, rough texture, clogged pores and breakouts that sun, salt air and SPF build-up leave behind.

  • For Every Skin Tone

Lactic and glycolic are classic, well-tolerated peel acids, and we adjust the layers for your skin type and tone.

  • Ruby Lux Red Light Finish

Neutralization, Ruby Lux red light therapy, targeted boosters as needed, serums and SPF, so you leave calm, glowing and protected.

Skin therapist applying a layered glycolic peel in San Diego

1–2 layers

Lunchtime glow, no visible peeling, back to your day.

3–4 layers

Deeper resurfacing and smoothing, 1–2 days of light flaking.

Sun rules

No tanning or sunburn 10 days before or 30 days after; SPF 30+ daily.

Step by step

Your 35-Minute Glycolic Peel

Six steps, with the depth set by you and your skin.

  1. Deep cleanse & prep

Skin is thoroughly cleansed and prepped so the acids apply evenly.

  2. Skin read & plan

Your skin therapist checks your skin, hears your goals and confirms how much downtime you want. That conversation sets the number of layers.

  3. The layering

One to four progressive passes of lactic and glycolic acid, each assessed before the next. You’ll feel a warm tingle.

  4. Neutralization

The peel is neutralized to stop the acids at exactly the right depth.

  5. Ruby Lux red light therapy

Ruby Lux red light therapy calms the skin and supports recovery. Targeted boosters are added as needed during customization, included in the price.

  6. Serums & SPF

Serums and SPF finish the treatment, with your sun rules confirmed: no tanning or sunburn for 30 days, SPF every day.

About 35 minutes, thanks to a 5-minute Ruby Lux red light session that delivers the energy of a full hour under regular spa panels. Your skin therapist confirms your at-home care and sun rules before you leave.

Glycolic Peel FAQ

Answers to what people ask most about chemical peels. Still unsure? Ask a skin therapist, it’s free.

How much is a glycolic peel in San Diego?

Ours is $139 for 35 minutes at our Hillcrest studio, including Ruby Lux red light therapy and any targeted boosters your skin needs. HSA/FSA cards accepted if acne related. Around San Diego, glycolic and lactic peels are commonly listed from about $125 to $150, often without the extras.

What is a lunchtime peel?

A light chemical peel you can fit into a lunch break. With one or two layers there is no visible peeling, so you can go straight back to work or the beach the same day.

Will I actually peel afterward?

Only if you choose deeper layers. One or two layers gives an instant glow with no visible peeling. Three or four layers resurfaces more, with a day or two of light flaking and tightness. You decide together with your skin therapist before anything is applied.

Glycolic or lactic acid: which is better?

Both, layered. Glycolic acid has small molecules that resurface and smooth texture, while lactic acid brightens and is gentle and hydrating. Blending them gives smoother, brighter skin with less irritation than a stronger single acid.

Is this a good acne peel?

Yes. Glycolic and lactic acid clear clogged pores and dead skin, so this works well as an acne peel for breakouts and congestion. Targeted boosters are added as needed, included in the price. HSA/FSA cards accepted if acne related.

Can I get a chemical peel if I've been in the sun?

Please avoid tanning or sunburn for 10 days before your peel and for 30 days after, because sun-stressed and freshly peeled skin needs time to calm. Wear SPF 30+ every day.

How often should I get one?

Every four weeks keeps texture and glow consistent, and many clients book it monthly as maintenance. A one-layer version also works as a pre-event glow-up.

How is it different from the TCA Chemical Peel and Bright Skin Peel?

This is our lighter, choose-your-downtime glycolic peel. The TCA Chemical Peel goes deeper for acne scars and significant sun damage, and the Bright Skin Peel targets dark spots and uneven tone.

Can I get a peel while pregnant or breastfeeding?

Pregnant or breastfeeding? Tell us when you book and we'll adjust your treatment.
